CYMDIST is the analysis package for distribution network planning and studies. It can perform several types of analysis on balanced or unbalanced three-phase, two-phase and single-phase systems that are operated in radial, looped or meshed configurations. The base module includes perphase voltage drop and power flow analysis, fault calculations (fault flows and fault voltages), protective device coordination (by interfacing with CYMTCC), optimal capacitor placement and sizing, load balancing and load allocation/estimation. This software is also equipped with add-on modules to perform predictive and historical reliability analysis, contingency analysis (load restoration), switching (tie-points) optimization and more as described below.

CYMDIST is extremely powerful in performing "what-if" studies and allows the creation and management of several project-scenarios, all related to the same base network. Each project consists of a set of modifications, which alter the data or the topology of the base network. Any alternative design can be used to update the base network.

All data resides in standard SQL tables and XML files - which means, it can be easily populated or queried by third party applications.

CYMDIST can be interfaced with or embedded in other applications such as AM/FM/GIS system, DMS, NMS, OMS or SCADA systems and is available as a Microsoft Component Object Model (COM) for integration with other COM-compliant applications....more

Analysis Modules

. CYMDIST (SOM) Switching Optimization: CYMDIST (SOM) is an add-on module to CYMDIST designed to help distribution engineers determining the optimal feeder configuration in order to minimize losses, improve the voltage profile and balance the load between feeders. This module can determine the optimal location of the tie points by suggesting new locations (addition of switching devices) or recommended switching for existing devices in order to achieve the selected objective.

This module will suggest the closing/opening of existing switching devices or to place new ones to find the configuration that will minimize losses, hence lower the operating cost, while respecting the user-defined constraints such as voltage thresholds and loading limits. The module may also be used to recommend switching in order to minimize abnormal conditions such as overloaded equipment and low voltage conditions, and to minimize unbalance loading among interconnected feeders....more

. CYMDIST (MAP) Geographic Overlay: CYMDIST (MAP) is an add-on module to CYMDIST that allows you to display raster or vector map images (geographical land-base) as layers directly underneath the electrical model. This option gives you full control over the screen view by allowing you to select and toggle on/off the different layers. It also gives you the ability to copy the map and the electrical model directly to the clipboard for pasting into other Windows applications. With this option you will be able to perform your simulation and visualize your results just as if you were in a view of your CAD or AM/FM/GIS system....more

. CYMDIST (RAM) Reliability Assessment: CYMDIST (RAM) is an add-on module to CYMDIST designed to aid distribution engineers in assessing the reliability of electric distribution networks. The program computes a set of predictive reliability indices for the overall system and their corresponding protection zones such as MAIFI, SAIFI, SAIDI, CAIDI, ASAI, ENS (Energy Not Supplied). It also computes customer point indices such as the frequency of interruption, the duration, etc., for each customer. CYMDIST (RAM) features a module to calibrate the predictive model based on historical data. This functionality is very handy to adjust the failure rates and repair time for the different equipment types in order to match the simulated model with historical indices....more

. CYMDIST (HARMO) Frequency Scan: CYMDIST (HARMO) is an add-on module to CYMDIST designed to perform harmonic penetration analysis in electric distribution systems. The module features a full three-phase modeling capability and is fully integrated with CYMDIST for the analysis of resonance conditions associated with capacitor banks installed on the distribution system. It is specifically designed for utility-type grids and distribution feeders of any configuration. CYMDIST (HARMO) utilizes state of the art sparse matrix/vector methods with a three-phase nodal admittance network matrix representation. The frequency scan can be performed at any joint of a feeder by simply selecting the desired section and run the analysis....more

. CYMDIST (ASP) Advanced Switching Plan: CYMDIST-ASP is a module that directs fast and optimized electrical switching procedures to support your Outage or Distribution Management System (OMS/DMS) in restoring the service to affected customers....more

. CYMDIST (SRM) Service Restoration Module

. CYMDIST (SUB) Substation Analysis and Modeling: CYMDIST (SUB/SUBNET) is an add-on module to CYMDIST that provides the user with the capability to model all the major components of the distribution substation and any sub-network such as the detailed modeling of an industrial facility....more

. CYMDIST (SNA) Secondary Network Analysis: CYMDIST (SNA) is an add-on module to our Distribution system Analysis Software. It is designed to perform the Power Flow and Short Circuit Analysis of heavily meshed secondary network distribution systems for any voltage level. The SNA module enables the user to build the secondary grid by including the complete vaults with their transformers and protective devices, the secondary lines or cables, as well as the distribution transformers.

CYMDIST (SNA) utilizes the graphic editor of CYMDIST to model the secondary network and display the results of the power flow and short circuit simulations on the single line diagram....more
